Groups
A group is an optional label that organises your indicators into sections. As an indicator app grows, its list of indicators can get long; groups let you sort them into tidy sections like "Energy", "Emissions", and "Finance" so the list stays easy to scan.
What a group does
A group is about tidiness: it decides where an indicator sits in the list, the indicator-app equivalent of putting related items into folders so you can find them quickly. That is all it does - a group never changes whether a datapoint is collected. To make a datapoint apply only under a condition, put an applicability rule on the datapoint itself; to exempt a whole section, put the same rule on each of its datapoints.
Create a group and move indicators
To organise your indicators:
- create a group and give it a name that describes the section,
- move indicators into the group so they appear under it,
- move them back out, or into a different group, whenever you reorganise.
Indicators that you do not put in any group still work exactly the same; they simply appear on their own rather than under a section heading. You can group as many or as few of your indicators as you like.
Formula
A formula indicator is worked out for you from other indicators, for every period and dimension member. Learn how to build a calculation, what each function does, the grain rules, and what happens when a value is missing.
Consistency checks
A consistency check guards a relationship between datapoints - a breakdown that must sum to a total, a part that cannot exceed the whole - and blocks approval of a reporting period until it holds.
