Knowledge Base
The Knowledge Base is a place inside each app to keep notes, documents, and context about your data. It is where you write down the things that are obvious to you but would not be obvious to anyone (or anything) else: what a column means, where the data comes from, or the rules your business follows.
Why it matters
The Knowledge Base does double duty.
- For people, it is documentation that travels with the app, so a teammate opening it later understands the data without having to ask.
- For Vera, it is useful background when its definitions are relevant to your request. You can explain your goals directly in chat and ask Vera to create or update the documentation alongside the pipeline and Visualisation. Writing notes first is optional.
Where to find it
Open your app, click Open editor, and open the Knowledge Base panel (or press K). Its left side is a panel with four tabs:
- Pages - the notes themselves, in folders.
- Favorites - the pages you starred.
- Skills - the app's reusable AI tasks. See Skills.
- Trash - a bin icon holding what you deleted.
Writing pages
You organise the Knowledge Base with folders and pages, much like folders on your computer. New page and New folder create them at the top level, and the more-actions menu on any folder adds a page or a folder inside it. Rename anything from the same menu, and drag pages between folders as your app grows. A search box above the list filters the pages by name.
The page editor supports Markdown: headings, lists, tables, code blocks, and more. It also renders Mermaid diagrams, so a flow chart or a small architecture sketch lives with the note that explains it. Toggle full width gives a wide table more room.
You do not have to save. Pages save themselves as you write; a small indicator shows Saving… and then Saved.
Star a page with Add to favorites to pin it to the Favorites tab, which is worth doing for the two or three pages people open constantly. Remove from favorites unpins it again.
Importing documents
You rarely start from a blank page. Import brings existing material in, in two shapes:
- Markdown or text - MD, Markdown, TXT, and CSV files, added as pages directly.
- Document - PDF, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel files.
Documents are converted to Markdown so they are searchable, editable, and readable by Vera, and the original stays available to download exactly as it came in. You can drop several files at once; the dialog shows the progress ("3 of 8") and tells you at the end how many were imported, with Try again for any that failed. Keep the dialog open until it finishes.
Deleting and restoring
Deleting a page or a folder does not destroy it: Move to trash puts it, and everything inside it, in the Trash tab. From there Restore brings it back where it was, and Delete permanently removes it for good.
Writing, moving to trash and restoring are for members with the App builder or Admin role on the app; Delete permanently is for administrators only. Anyone else reads the Knowledge Base without the editing controls and without the Trash tab.
Validation results
The validations you configure on a dataset node are executed on every run and published as two nodes you can query - one listing every rule, one listing every failing row.
Skills & the AI widget
Package a reusable, app-specific AI task once and hand it to end users as a one-click AI widget and to your own AI tools as an MCP prompt.
